Harwell Scouts Digital Makers Day
Wood is a fibre-composite material, with a complex overall structure, with roughly one thousand billion cells in a tree. Wood is a material that can burn, and is brittle, which means it can snap reasonably easy. It is used to make all sorts of day to day items like tables, chairs, beds and even instruments.
The word plastic comes from the Greek plastikos, meaning capable of being shaped and moulded. It is because of this that it is made into many objects like bottles, cups, games, toys, bags, and many other things that we use every day. Plastic is often recycled, and made into other things, for example, your lego could have once been a bottle, that used to be a bag!
Cloth is a woven or felted fabric made from wool, cotton, or a similar fibre. It is used to make furniture comfortable, they are used to make sofas, cushions, comfy chairs, blankets and even mops and flannels to clean with. Cloth is a very soft matrial, and if you try to bend it, it will spring back into its former state.

Metal is a material found under ground. There are many differet types of metal, each one serves a differemnt purpose. Metal is used to build structures that need to be stury, like buildings. Metal is shiny, and sonorous, which means it makes a sound when dropped, and can be melted down into liquid.
